Dr. Sarel Botha is a distinguished medical professional whose career exemplifies a commitment to academic excellence, surgical expertise, and compassionate patient care. Born in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, and raised in a small rural community in the Northern Cape, Dr. Botha matriculated from Christiana High School in 1998 with four distinctions in Mathematics, Science, Accounting, and Geography. Following a year of voluntary military training in 1999, he earned a bursary to study medicine and completed his MBChB degree at the University of Pretoria in 2005.

Dr. Botha began his medical career as an intern at 1 Military Hospital in 2006 and completed his community service in 2007 at the Area Military Health Unit – Eastern Cape, where his collaboration with the dental department sparked a keen interest in maxillofacial and oral surgery. During this period, he pursued and earned a diploma in maxillofacial and oral surgery (Dip. Odont. Oral Surg.), graduating cum laude. He subsequently enrolled in the BChD dentistry program at the University of Pretoria, completing the degree with distinction. Concurrently, he obtained an MBA from Regent University in 2011, showcasing his drive for both clinical and administrative excellence.

Dr. Botha’s specialised training culminated in 2014 when he earned an MChD in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery and completed the fellowship at the College of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeons of South Africa. His dedication to advancing his expertise continued, as he passed the international certification for maxillofacial and oral surgeons in 2016, becoming a Fellow of the International Board for the Certification of Specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FIBCSOMS). He further pursued a fellowship in head and neck cancer through the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Society, completing it in 2017.
